Choose For Yourself (bite-sized blog)

I was recently listening to a podcast by Dear HBR by Harvard Business Review entitled, Career Transitions. One individual who wrote in to the show, writes of wanting to leave her chosen field after years of school and spending thousands of dollars for her education. Stay out of harm's way.

Growing up our parents and older relatives often warned us about staying out of harm’s way. Examples of harm included substances such as drugs and alcohol, to situational environments like hanging out with the wrong crowd in school.


As adults, we should consider the harm that can come to us based on our decision not to be selective with whom we spend our time. On campus, in the workplace and during times of leisure we need to think about whether we are putting ourselv...

Decide and follow through.

Recently I gave some thought to why it bothered me when I thought about returning the red dress I recently purchased. Often returning an item of clothing is more about trusting in myself, than the item being flawed in any way.

Here is how it typically happens.


• Enter the store looking for the right outfit. This can take anywhere from a few minutes or a couple of hours.
